Production Engineer

iotaSciences, a University of Oxford spin-out, is an innovative and fast-growing biotechnology company that emerged from the Universities engineering and biology departments. We offer unique solutions to cell line development. These solutions accelerate and advance biomedicine across a wide range of applications including gene editing, disease modelling and drug discovery; with current customers from universities, hospitals and industry. Our employees are motivated to deliver the most innovative next generation technologies in biomedicine that will ultimately translate ideas to clinics faster.

About the Role

Production engineers will focus primarily on the manufacture and delivery of iotaSciences’ robotics products. This will be a hands-on role, involving building small production runs and servicing instruments.  Both experienced engineers and graduates are encouraged to apply.

The main activities they will be required to undertake are the following:

  • Working with the manufacturing team to ensure delivery of product on time and in spec.
  • Identifying and finding solutions to manufacturing issues as they arise.
  • Development of manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Ensuring new and demo instruments are operating to specification.
  • Service and repair of instruments at customer premises. As such, short duration international travel is expected but will be low frequency.
  • Hands on assembly, QC and packing of instruments and cosumables in low volume.

The successful candidate will be an individual with excellent attention to detail, strong critical thinking, and enjoys mechatronic tinkering.  They will need strong background in engineering or a similar technical subject. The production engineer will join the engineering team responsible for the design, development, production, quality and support of iotaSciences products and technologies.

Due to the extensive range of the role and complexity of our products, it is important the candidate enjoys having a wide variety of tasks and tackling unfamiliar challenges. An extended learning period is expected but fast learners will do well.
